Today we are talking to CHRIS BURKE of BELLEREVE STUD who are standing stallion, EUROZONE in 2019!
Q: Hi Chris, you must be very excited to be standing ex Newgate Farm Stallion, son of the NORTHERN METEOR and Sire of well performed KRONE. How did you come to acquire him?
A: It all happened pretty quickly actually. We were looking through a few sales catalogues and came past another stallion which seemed like a pretty good idea, that didn’t work out but I decided to call every major stud that I could find and just give them a call. Came across Bruce Slade at Newgate and now we have a Stallion on our hands.
Q: He is a very imposing type and a strong looking Stallion – what do you feel are his best qualities?
A: He looks like he is ready to go back to the races. He is a fantastic looking horse and he is passing that on to a lot of his youngsters. I have spoken with a lot of people who have young Eurozone horses and as types they are great. They just seem to be needing a bit of time to mature.
Q: He has crossed well with mares by Stallions such as AL MAHER (producing Multiple Listed Winner, KRONE) and PENDRAGON (produced Listed Winner, MYSTERY LOVE) – what sort of mares will suit EUROZONE?
A: You’re right he does seem to be crossing well with a good variety of mares. Al Maher and Pendragon are just a few. The Charge forward mares seem to be doing well with the Northern Meteor lines also. I really believe he will do very well in the future.
Q: EUROZONE beat the likes of DISSIDENT and CRITERION and sired Winners including KRONE! How do our members get in touch if they would like to either book a service or enquire about the stallion?
A: Feel free to give me a call and have a chat. I'm very approachable and do not mind a good yarn. I have been around horse racing all my life and I’ll talk your ear off if given the chance. My email is
